Who Needs Videography Liability Insurance?
Every professional videographer needs liability insurance. No matter your specialty or experience level, you face liability risks — and you could be held responsible for hefty expenses if an accident involving your production occurs.
Full Frame Insurance (FFI) covers thousands of professional videographers across many industries, including:
Documentary Videography
Nature Videography
FFI offers high-quality general liability, professional liability, camera insurance, and more. Work worry-free, with coverage designed to protect your business from common videography claims.
What Is Videographer Insurance?
Videographer insurance is business liability insurance tailored specifically for video professionals. It’s designed to protect you from third-party claims related to your business operations, like clients getting hurt during filming, or the shooting location’s property being damaged.
With FFI, you get a series of essential liability coverages plus multiple add-on options, so you can build the best policy built for your business. Start with one of three base options:
- Annual Plus (from $30.17/month): Includes general liability, the first tier of camera and equipment insurance, and the option to add additional coverages (most popular)
- Annual (from $12/month): Includes general liability and the option to add additional coverages
- Event (from $59/event): Includes general liability and the ability to add additional insureds
Note: All policies allow you to add additional insureds, but other optional coverages, like professional liability and camera insurance, are not available on Event policies.
No matter how careful you are on set, you can’t eliminate all risk. An actor could get hurt, your camera could get damaged mid-shoot, or a corrupted memory card could put your whole production at risk. Without insurance, even one incident can cost you thousands out of pocket.
How Much Does Videographer Insurance Cost?
Videography insurance costs as low as $12 per month, or $129 per year, for a standard annual liability policy.
Annual Plus policies start at $30.17 per month and include all standard liability coverages, plus $20,000 in camera equipment coverage. If you upgrade to the $30,000 camera coverage tier (our most popular), your policy would only cost $31.75 per month.
Single Event policies cost just $59 per event and cover up to three consecutive days.

What Does Videography Insurance Include?
All FFI videographer policies include:
General Liability Insurance: ($2 million per policy term / $1 million per occurrence) for bodily injury and property damage you may unintentionally cause others.
Personal and Advertising Injury Insurance: ($1 million) for claims of false advertisement, copyright infringement, and defamation.
Damage to Premises Rented: ($300,000) for damage to rented spaces, like a sound stage or film studio. It covers damage to structure, furnishings, and so on for the first seven (7) days, and damage caused by accidental fire afterward.
Medical Expense Limit: ($5,000) for minor medical bills, regardless of fault
Additional Insureds: (optional with any policy) for when property owners and event organizers require you to list them as additional insureds on your policy; you can add unlimited additional insureds for $30 on Annual plans and $10 on event plans.
In addition to the coverages listed above, Annual FFI policies with also include:
Products – Completed Operations: ($2 million) for claims where your final products cause injury or damage.
Optional Coverage Add-Ons
All FFI videographer policies include:
Data Breach Insurance: ($100,000) Also known as cyber liability, it helps protect you from the financial repercussions that arise from a cybersecurity breach caused by hackers, malware, and more. If you collect, send, or store business information online on a computer, tablet, or mobile device, we recommend adding this to your policy.
Professional Liability: (Failure to Deliver) ($100,000 occurrence / $200,000 per policy term) Also known as errors and omissions or E&O insurance, it protects you from negligence claims that arise from mistakes — like giving poor instructions or failing to provide necessary information. We strongly recommend this coverage, especially if you teach classes or run demos as part of your business.
Drone Liability Insurance: ($1 million occurrence / $2 million aggregate) Necessary to be covered for general liability claims related to drone operations
Drone Equipment Coverage: (up to $75,000) Works like standard video equipment insurance but also extends coverage to include drones. Heads up: you need Drone Liability Insurance to qualify for Drone Equipment Coverage.
Video Equipment Insurance: (up to $75,000) Helps protect you from paying out of pocket to repair or replace damaged or stolen business equipment.
Increased Limits: Increase any Annual Policy limits to $2 million per occurrence and $2 million per policy term for an additional $6.42/month
You're In Good Company With Full Frame Insurance
Here’s what others have to say about their experience.
Really easy & just what I needed now that I’ve upgraded my gear and need to have that peace of mind. Hopefully, I won’t need to submit a claim in the future, but if I do, I hope it goes as well as the purchasing did.
The easiest and fastest insurance experience I’ve ever encountered! I was overpaying dramatically for my business insurance before I found Full Frame. I’m so glad I found them!
Quick easy and more affordable than other options. I called to get a question answered and it was a really nice experience, the lady I spoke with was really helpful and kind.
Easier way to get insurance for your event. Hopefully I will never have to use it. 📸📽️
Ordering was super simple. Hopefully if I need to make a claim one day, that will be simple.
We Know Insurance Can Be Overwhelming
Common Questions About Videographer Insurance
What Type of Insurance Does a Videographer Need?
Videographers need general liability coverage for third-party injury and property damage claims, professional liability insurance to help protect against errors and omissions, and camera equipment insurance to safeguard their gear. They should also consider data breach coverage (aka cyber liability) to guard against financial fallout from cyberattacks.
What Types of Claims Does Videography Insurance Cover?
Common videography claims stem from things like unhappy clients, injured third parties, or damaged property. Videographer insurance is designed to cover claims like these:
- Third-party bodily injury claims, like if a wedding guest needs medical attention after tripping over your tripod
- Third-party property damage claims, like if your lighting apparatus topples over and damages a venue’s flooring
- Third-party claims related to real or perceived negligence, like using a bad memory card, losing a client’s photos, or failing to provide the finished product on time (with optional professional liability coverage)
- First-party claims related to damage or theft of your essential gear (with optional camera equipment coverage)
Claims like these can drain your profits fast, financially devastating your business. FFI’s robust coverage is built to absorb these hits, so a single bad day on set doesn’t threaten your entire business.
Does Videographer Insurance Cover My Camera and Gear?
Yes — depending on the policy you purchase. Our Annual Plus plan bundles camera and gear coverage alongside general liability.
Standard Annual policies, however, do not automatically include coverage for your cameras and equipment. You need to opt in to that coverage when purchasing your policy, or, if you’re an existing policyholder, you can log in to your online portal and add camera coverage anytime.
Camera coverage is not available on Event policies.
What is Video Equipment Insurance?
Also known as inland marine or camera insurance, video equipment insurance is designed to cover the cost of repairing or replacing damaged or stolen business equipment. It covers the transportable gear you own or rent to run your business, including:
- Laptops
- Gimbals
- Lighting rigs
- Audio equipment
- Camera bodies and lenses
- Drones (with drone camera equipment coverage)
Our equipment insurance covers qualified claims that occur at home, in transit, and on location.
Full Frame offers four equipment coverage levels, with total annual protection ranging from $20,000 to $75,000. So, whether you’re insuring a single camera body or a full production kit, FFI has the coverage that matches what’s on your call sheet.
- Available for Annual policies, from $20,000 to $75,000 in aggregate (the max your policy will pay during your policy period) coverage
- Starts at $18.17/month or $218/year
- $250 deductible
How Much Does Video Equipment Insurance Cost?

- Tier 1: $2,000 per
item/$20,000 aggregate = $18.17/month - Tier 2: $5,000 per item/$30,000 aggregate = $19.75/month

Why Do I Need Videographer Insurance?
You need videographer insurance because videography (even amateur videography) comes with risks. Filming at different locations, hefting your gear back and forth, and shooting a variety of subjects exposes you to an array of unknowns. In the event of an accident, you could face claims with an out-of-pocket cost in the thousands.
It’s also common for venues, national and state parks, landlords, event organizers, and other third parties to require you to provide proof of insurance. You may be required to add them to your policy as additional insureds. This protects them if they are sued because of an incident arising from your business operations.
